We never really found out why Hidan is immortal other than it's an ability granted by his religion. You'd think more people would be wanting to get in on that.
Also, bounty collector dude = Lee's lost father?
Someone colored this picture, and I think I kept that as my laptop background for a year or two.
I remember when this chapter came out, everyone was pissed. I mean, it was pretty clear that Akatsuki was going for some sort of world-dominating scheme, but this just seemed like such a ... not epic way to do it. Remember back in part 1 when Jiraiya first mentioned them and we were all shitting our pants thinking that there's a group of people that even Orochimaru is wary of? Actually meeting them just ruined everything, but not so much as in this moment.
People wondered and still do whether Kishimoto always had this in mind or if he just made it up later. When I started this enterprise, I kept this concept in mind as I went through part one and found it to be consistent with this, e.g. Sasuke's chidori was able to easily cut through Gaara's earth attacks. I don't know if that's coincidence or not though.
You know Kakuzu, there's more to life than a heart. Like, you can die from brain damage. Just replacing your heart means you're protected from heart disease and the sort. Nothing else. That doesn't give you immortality.
Also he says here that one of the hearts was from the First, except I vaguely remember the First lived on past that. How he managed to do it without a heart I have no idea.
FUCK SHIKAMARU WHY ARE YOU SO COOL HERE YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO BE THE LAZY ASSHOLE
Yeah, we all disregarded fuuton whatever crap and just thought, "Destructo Disc!"
